We offer opportunities to enrich marriages, energize families, help blended families, and counsel individuals.

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

Being a good steward of the time God gives is not really a matter of guarding the minutes so we can spend our time productively. Certainly we need to wisely use our time, but even more importantly we need to have a grasp of time in the sense of understanding the great events of God in the past, present, and future as they are set forth in Scripture in the grand scheme of God's plan. The goal concerning the stewardship of time is not to get Christians busier. It is not busier lives that we need. What is needed instead is a better use of the time we have, combined with a biblical view of time on earth.

It is made evident in the New Testament letter of First Peter that we must grasp exactly who we are as Christians. We are children of God and citizens of heaven who are exiles, sojourners, and aliens. For the Christian, following Peter’s instruction means adopting and maintaining this new attitude toward our time on earth and what we do with our lives.

When you think of your time on earth as temporary, how does your thinking of time change? Knowing you are already a “citizen of heaven” is a gift of grace. How does that redeem time for you today?

God of all time, you give me the hours of this day as a gift. Lead me to live these hours mindful of your presence and grateful for the gift they present to extend your love and mercy to others. Thank you for making me a good steward of the gift of time. Amen.
