With every ending comes a beginning. Whether the ending is a graduation, divorce, job change, or retirement, a person moves into a unique time called transition. William Bridges, author of "Transitions, Making Sense of Life’s Changes", describes a transition as a having three phases:

• endings
• neutral zones
• beginnings

Every transition begins with an ending. It continues until a new beginning dawns. In between is a special time which Bridges calls the neutral zone. Some might call it the wilderness.

What neutral zones have you experienced? What was God bringing about in you during that period? When you look back on the beginnings which followed, how were you blessed?

God, open my mind and heart to know and experience your love and guidance in the transitions of my life, for you are the God who connects the generations and encompasses all times. Amen.
