Trinity friends immerse themselves in different cultures to help us broaden our vision for ministry.
Our Global Missions

Our Mission in Jamaica

Since 1998 Trinity has sent teams to Jamaica each year to build global relationships and our mission of "Serving in Christ's Love and Sharing the Good News." This mission seeks to:

  • Share Christ's love with our Jamaican friends by serving them through building better housing and schools, teaching and feeding projects
  • Create global understandings and cross-cultural friendship
  • Provide Trinity members and friends new ways to share time, money and abilities

In January, men of Trinity have partnered with leaders of Maranatha Church and Jabneh Christian Academy in Savanna La Mar to convert a concrete structure into bathrooms for the children. They have built a play area and outdoor seating for student. All these improvements will lead to bringing the school into compliance with the Ministry of Education and becoming accredited for government funding.

This annual mission for men seeks to:

  • find a clear and rewarding purpose in taking time away from home and work
  • offer men a travel experience which will enrich life, open eyes to a different culture, serve new neighbors and show others faith in action
  • To allow men an opportunity to use their abilities or grow new ones (NO building experience necessary)

Kingston Mission

Our partnership with Maranatha Church in Kingston is the setting for regular mission teams that include adults of all ages and kids in grade 6 and older. These teams work with church leaders in Kingston to build houses, conduct a food sharing programs and teach in the church's preschool.

Plans for March 2011 Kingston mission trip will be available in August. Fund raising opportunities are on-going and people interested in joining a future mission team are invited to join in this effort now. Please contact Pastor Kurt Jacobson for more information.

Malawi

Our Northwest Synod of Wisconsin has a companion relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi.

Trinity has been paired with the Blantyre Parish. Blantyre is the largest city in Malawi and is located in the southern district of the country. The Blantyre parish consists of seven congregations as well as the parish center. The parish is led by the Rev. Justin Mofolo and his wife, Agnes.

When Trinity laid plans to enlarge our worship center and gathering area the congregation voted to send a first fruits offering to Malawi for the construction of churches there. Trinity's gift went for the construction of four chapels. Then, Trinity sent a delegation of six people to Malawi in October 2004. The delegation traveled throughout the country and visited all congregations of the Blantyre Parish. They were able to meet the people of the parish, worship with them, and see the orphan feeding stations in action.

Recently we received the following greeting:

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi. I have been silent without communicating with you for a long period. I just wanted to let you know that I am doing well and everyone in our family is well too. This year has been a very busy and hectic. We had lots of activities in the church. The Church Assembly that took place from September 25 - 29, 2008 is the most remarkable one which ended successful. We were very busy and blessed that everyone participated had good contributions. ELCM Head Office would like also to thank you, our companions/friends/ partners for being with us in prayers and your love towards our church mean alot to us. As we are close to the end of this year we are asking for your more prayers for us. The country will experience acute hunger from November this year, please keep us in prayers as so many people will face hunger. We might loose people due to hunger especially children as they are vulnerable to hunger and are at risk. The country will hold General Elections on May 19, 2009 and we also need your prayers. We are always with you in prayers too.

Yours in Christ,

Mphatso Thole INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION OFFICER - Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi
