Trinity Lutheran is a lively worshiping community which combines progressive theology with roots in ancient scripture and patterns of liturgy.
Worship is user-friendly. Whatever your background, our bulletin and powerpoint provide brief commentary so you can participate at whatever level you are comfortable. Worship follows a pattern of liturgy -- which gathers worshipers, centers around the Word, feeds with the sacraments, and sends out for service. While the Bible readings and songs will change week by week, this pattern does not.
The 8:15 A.M. service includes the rich tradition of hymns and liturgy led by the pipe organ and Trinity Choir.
The 9:45 A.M. service offers a newer musical repertoire based on biblical texts and led by an instrumental ensemble and singers.
The 10:30 A.M. service is offered in the chapel from September to May. This service works well for parents who wish to worship while children are in Sunday School or anyone who prefers a more intimate space, a shorter service, and weekly communion.
The 6:30 P.M.Wednesday evening service is offered from September to April. This service is led by the Crossword Youth Band and offers contemporary music.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays of the month at the 8:15 A.M. and 9:45 A.M. worship services and on the first and third Wednesdays at the 6:30 P.M. evening service. It is celebrated weekly at the 10:30 A.M. worship service.
All are welcome to participate in this sacrament of love and grace. You don't have to be a member or a Lutheran. All are welcome. Communion is most typically taken by intinction, receiving the bread or wafer and dipping it into the wine or grape juice. Gluten-free wafers are on hand- just ask the communion distributors if one is needed. A blessing is available for young children not yet receiving communion or adults who prefer that option.
Children are welcomed as integral to the life of this worshiping community. Activity bags are stationed at each entrance to the Worship Center, along with children's bulletins geared towards a child's age group. A staffed nursery with a pager system to notify parents if needed is available during worship time. In addition, our Fireside Room (with a live-feed television monitor of worship) is available just off the Worship Center as a space where a child can take a short break while their parent is able to remain a part of the worship experience. Children of all ages are encouraged to be just that, children. Asking questions, wiggling in the pews, even dancing in the aisles are common sights in worship at Trinity.
Sermons are usually about 10 minutes in length, and they're aimed to foster faith development while providing a connection between the Bible and daily life. Sermons include down-to-earth examples, visual illustrations projected on the screens, and sometimes movie clips and a dose of humor to help make the connection between God's Word and life today.
